Our ‘Kits to Uganda Appeal’ tops the 100 Mark
Charlie Longshaw & the kits for Uganda
Our appeal for clubs to donate their old kits to our “Kits for Uganda” Appeal has topped the 100 mark with the donation of two kits from Tanterton FC, and one each from Acregate Lane LC and New Longton Rovers FC bringing the total collected to date to 101.
Local Football League referee Michael Salisbury delivers the kits to the headquarters of Teams4U, a charity set up by Dave Cooke and based in Wrexham. The kits are subsequently taken out to Uganda and distributed to the schools and clubs where they are gratefully received.
Dave Cooke said, “I am eternally gratefully to the Lancashire Sunday Football League and its clubs for their support. We get the vast majority of our kits from your league and they go to kids and lads who have nothing and who cannot thank you enough so I’m thanking you on their behalf”.
Pictured is 8-year-old Tanterton FC supporter Charlie Longshaw, his Dad Martin plays for Tanterton and Granddad Carl is the club secretary. Charlie plays in goal for Ribbleton Juniors and he is a keen PNE supporter.
League Chairman Eamonn McNamara said, “A huge thank you to every club who has donated kits to this excellent charity, it is great to know that they are finding a good home and helping those less fortunate than us. If you have an old kit that you can donate, please get in touch with me here.
