Winstanley Warriors Reds v Poulton (Youth White)

Another Sunday of mass postponements which means further headaches for fixtures boss Mark Moore as only 14 games were played today out of a programme of 34 matches. Some clubs were a tad trigger happy in having their games call off whilst others went to extraordinary lengths to get their game played.

One such club was Winstanley Warriors who entered two teams in our youth section this season, Winstanley Warriors who play in youth division red switched their game against Bamber Bridge United to their home ground when Withy Grove was called off. Winstanley Warriors Reds were at home to Poulton in youth division white.

Club Chairman Shaun Rotherham and his club officials worked on their pitches from 7.30am this morning to ensure that both games we played and great credit goes to Shaun and this most hospitable club for their sterling efforts which were rewarded when both teams won this morning.

Winstanley Warriors are a Charter Standard Community Club, formed in 2004 with the aim to provide young children with a platform to play in an environment that is safe and enjoyable. They have grown year on year and have now 24 teams playing in league and cup competitions. Teams range from our Under 7s to adult open age, and they now have a 'Development Centre' aimed at introducing small children aged 5 and above to football in a relaxed and friendly environment.

In 2005 they were awarded F.A. Charter Standard after proving best practice in coaching, child protection, first aid, equal opportunities and administration and they were upgraded to FA Charter Standard Development in 2008 and then in 2012 they achieved the F.A.'s highest award of Charter Standard Community Club.

Hunters opened a three-point lead at the top of premier division after beating Tanterton 3-0 at London Road in the only game played in the top tier today, Southport & Ainsdale Amateurs are up to third in division 1 after beating Worden Rangers at home, Walton Athletic beat Warton 4-0 and Preston Victoria drew 3-3 with Wyresdale Rangers. Arkwrights moved into second spot in division 2 after their 6-1 home win against Penwortham Town whilst in division 3 Bamber Bridge Town won 1-0 at BAE Warton, Sir Tom Finney won 8-1 at Fishwick Rangers and Leyland Athletic beat Lostock Hall 2-1.

Bolton County drew 4-4 with Padiham in Youth Division Red, Fleetwood Town Rangers beat Appley Bridge 9-2 in Youth Division White and Wyre Villa beat Foxhall 4-1. The only game played in Youth Division Blue saw Euxton Villa beat Tarleton Corinthians 5-4.
